Description of the Varvel F RD22 Gearbox

The Varvel F RD22 coaxial gearbox is designed to adapt the rotational speed of an electric motor to the needs of your system. By reducing the output speed, it simultaneously increases the torque transmitted to the driven equipment. This solution is particularly suitable for conveyors, agricultural machinery, pumping systems, handling equipment, and industrial applications requiring reliable transmission.

Choosing the Right Input Configuration

Before ordering your gearbox, it is essential to identify the motor mounting type. This selection is made by noting the motor flange diameter and its shaft dimensions.

The main IEC interfaces compatible with the F RD22 are as follows:

• IEC 71 B5: flange Ø160 mm – motor shaft 14 x 30 mm

• IEC 71 B14: flange Ø105 mm – motor shaft 14 x 30 mm

• IEC 80 B5: flange Ø200 mm – motor shaft 19 x 40 mm

• IEC 80 B14: flange Ø120 mm – motor shaft 19 x 40 mm

• IEC 90 B5: flange Ø200 mm – motor shaft 24 x 50 mm

• IEC 90 B14: flange Ø140 mm – motor shaft 24 x 50 mm

• IEC 100/112 B5: flange Ø250 mm – motor shaft 28 x 60 mm

• IEC 100/112 B14: flange Ø160 mm – motor shaft 28 x 60 mm

Each gearbox is supplied with its elastic coupling, ensuring a reliable connection between the motor and the gearbox while facilitating assembly.

Available Mounting Solutions

The F RD22 can be installed in two different ways:

• Foot-mounted, B3 type.

• Mounted with a front mounting flange available in Ø140 mm, Ø160 mm, or Ø200 mm.

This modularity allows for simple integration into many mechanical configurations.

Range of Reduction Ratios

To meet different speed and torque requirements, this model is offered with 23 reduction ratios:

2.25 – 2.5 – 2.80 – 3.15 – 3.55 – 4 – 4.5 – 5 – 5.6 – 6.3 – 7.1 – 8 – 9 – 10 – 11.2 – 12.5 – 16 – 20 – 25 – 31.5 – 40 – 50 – 63.

The output speed corresponds to the motor speed divided by the chosen ratio.

Design and Output Shaft

Manufactured from die-cast aluminum, the F RD22's casing offers an excellent compromise between robustness, rigidity, and low weight. The mounting feet are an integral part of the casing and cannot be detached. Depending on the installation requirements, an output flange Ø140 mm, Ø160 mm, or Ø200 mm can be added for front mounting.

This version is equipped with a solid output shaft Ø30 x 60 mm, allowing the mounting of various transmission components such as a pulley, sprocket, coupling, or any other element suitable for your application.

Delivery Contents

The gearbox is delivered ready for installation with its casing, input flange, and elastic coupling. When the output flange option is selected, it is also provided to allow for mounting according to the chosen configuration.
